After our (did we mention VERY rapid?!) introduction to Eliza, we had some other fun introductions occur while we were in the hospital. Two of Eliza's grandparents got to catch their first snuggle with her...
(Grandpa -- my dad)
(Grandma -- Chad's mom, who graciously stayed at our house with Julia while we were in the hospital)
And the highlight of our time was bringing Julia in to meet her little sister. Unfortunately, she arrived right as Eliza had a notion to eat and was squallering a little bit. After I hugged Julia and told her how glad I was to see her, she scrambled off the bed and said, "I give the baby MY present now!" After her ongoing love affair with the Wubbanub Mr. Frog (who has now been surgically detached from his pacifier), we had let her choose one for Eliza. Before we knew what was happening, Julia had scrambled back up on my bed, pulled Giraffy out of the plastic bag and was shoving it into Eliza's open, screaming mouth. Wouldn't you know it -- she loved it. :)
(and ironically, we have "NO pacifiers of any kind for the first few weeks" typed onto our birth plan that we gave to the hospital staff....so I'm sure they were a bit confused by our sudden change of heart! It just seemed, in the actual moment, that sibling bonding was more important than sticking to our guns...and Eliza has continued to do a GREAT job nursing, so I think we're okay!)
Julia was as hyper as we've ever seen her for much of her time there (Chad finally took her out to run/jump around the hallways a bit), but that excitement got channeled into quite a few precious and sweet moments... (many of these pics are similar, so if you're not family you may just want to skip to the end of this post!)
We also managed to grab a few moments on video, which will be fun to look back on as the girls grow.
And...we're happy to report that even with a few minor hiccups of sibling transition over these first few days home, the affection appears to be continuing -- especially when they both have their Wubbanub Love going! ;)
