Thanksgiving 2015...

(Still catching up...but wanted to remember our gathering this year.)

Eliza had a Thanksgiving preschool program a few days earlier...

And the day of Thanksgiving was relaxing and fun.  Parade and dog show to watch on TV.  Good food...

(This was our traditional snacky lunch.)

 Fun crafts...

(The girls and I made these themed toilet paper crafts together)

And time shared with family and friends.  My dad, my Aunt Diane and Uncle David, along with my Uncle Paul and Aunt Beth joined us for the turkey dinner.  We also shared our table with Jeannie Tuggy, a friend from church who lived alone with no family nearby.  She delighted the girls with a card game when she arrived, and later let them wheel her oxygen tank around behind her like walking a dog (though Eliza got distracted often and almost yanked her tubes out of her nose several times when she didn't keep up!!!).  She also took time to snuggle little Caleb while she was with us.

Our time is all the more poignant, because Jeannie was discovered killed in her home this January.  Few answers surround the case...we hope that more will come to light to help her family and her church family with some sense of closure.

(Our group around the dinner table.)

Jeannie had asked if we'd be interested in doing one of her Thanksgiving traditions, which was to recite Psalm 100 together before the meal.  I made these cards for us to do so:

We are so thankful for God's goodness, even (especially?) in hard, dark times.  And we are grateful for a Thanksgiving meal with a kind and tenderhearted friend...not knowing it would be our last.
