Recent Julia-isms...

.
This "language acquisition" thing is a HOOT!  It's so fun to see how Julia processes things she hears and observes...and then what comes out of her mouth in response!  Here are a few recent favorites...

(while working on utensil names)
Kate: If we don't eat this food with a spoon, we eat it with a....
Julia: (blank look)
Kate: What do we eat things like chicken, or carrots, or pasta, or tater tots with?
Julia: (face brightening) "DIP!"

Kate: Where does Daddy work?
Julia: "Home!"
(well, we were going for "church"...but at least she's paying attention to our current circumstances!)

(in response to Julia starting to pull the bottom of her dress up towards her face while leaning over)
Kate: What are you looking for?
Julia: "Knees!"

And my favorite -- a precious, treasured one...
About a month ago, I took a night to pray out loud for Julia when she was really sick with a high fever and cold and there was not much I could do to make her feel better.  The first night she was recovered and I was holding and rocking her before I put her down in her crib, she exclaimed, "PRAY!"

And every night since then, that's part of what she says to me during that time.  It's been a sweet time of talking about what or who to pray for, and having that time together each and every night.

Finally, a short video of a pretty standard scene at our meals recently, whenever anything is at all hot on her plate (we just can't keep straight faces when she so intensely does this...):

(since we've had so many questions about it, Julia's response is, "It's Julia!" at the end of the video.  Except when a camera is on her, she typically responds with, "It's warm!")
