Fall Fest!

This afternoon was Calvary's annual Fall Fest. It was a great day! We hold it out at Harvest Fields (120 acres of beautiful land on the outskirts of State College) where our offices are currently located, and where we plan to build some sort of a facility to support the ministries of the church. Here are some pics of the land:


We started the day off with an outdoor baptism in one of the ponds. We had three folks scheduled ahead of time. Then, at our weekend services, we offered a challenge during the sermon to folks who might want to make that decision of anchoring their faith right then to join in today. Four more folks decided they wanted to! It was amazing to hear how God had worked in each of their lives. I'll never get over seeing and feeling the joy that comes as people make the decision to follow Christ wherever He leads them, for the rest of their lives. In this glorious setting of God's creation, it was a spectacular way to kick off Fall Fest!


Then, off to the other festivities! Chad was excelling at his head parking team duty, so Dad and I walked around a bit. We ate great hot dogs and popcorn, and enjoyed some live music by one of our worship leaders (who also happens to be a professional musician in town). Then, Chad's parents Dottie and Obie rolled into town and we got to catch up some.

One of the highlights of the day was our experience at the Rock Wall. The Army National Guard has brought this in each year for us, and each year, Dad has watched it for hours. :) Well, this year...he finally got up his nerve! (I told him he would only be 65 once!) He got strapped up, and went for it!

This is him in his post-climb celebration. His hands were shaking pretty badly, but he was on Cloud Nine.

Well, I couldn't be one-upped by my father, so I took a shot myself!
It was a wonderful day!
